AMSN Launches Elevate Series Educational Program

The AMSN Elevate Series is a set of evidence-based, mastery-level online learning programs that develop real-world skills and knowledge to empower experienced medical-surgical nurses to meet continuing education requirements while learning next-level skills and competencies.

SEWELL, NEW JERSEY – In a continued effort to set the standard in medical-surgical nursing competency, the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN), the nation’s only specialty nursing organization dedicated to the practice of medical-surgical nursing, has launched the AMSN Elevate Series, a mastery-level online series of expert-designed courses in next-level skills and knowledge for the experienced medical-surgical nurse.

In the pursuit of lifelong learning, AMSN has forged a path that allows nurses to earn continuing education credit, built on a foundation of real-life, practical, and impactful content that brings measurable value to their careers and their institutions.

“The AMSN Elevate Series is so much more than standard online learning,” reports AMSN CEO Terri Hinkley. “The goal is not to pass a test or receive a digital badge; it is to build actionable skills that can be immediately implemented and leveraged to better serve organizations and — most importantly — patients.”

AMSN Elevate Series courses, include:

  • Behavioral Health Program Certificate: Available Now. The Behavioral Health Program Certificate was designed in response to the evolving needs of med-surg nurses and the patients they serve. Every med-surg nurse can expect to give care to patients living with behavioral health issues, such as schizophrenia and personality disorders, substance use disorder, and more.
  • The Clinical Leadership Development Program (CLDP): Available Now. Essential Leadership Competencies for Nurses at Every Level is designed with the next generation of med-surg nurse leaders in mind. The Clinical Leadership Development Program: Essential Leadership Competencies for Nurses at Every Level is an educational program for clinical nurses to help them build and leverage the leadership skills they need. This program is designed for nurses working at the point of care and was designed in response to the 2010 Institute of Medicine Future of Nursing Report, which called on all nurses to build and demonstrate their leadership competencies.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Health Care Workforce: Available Fall 2022. AMSN is building a robust Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) program for all healthcare providers, with a focus on embedding DEI competency to improve healthy workplace environments, and to increase provider competency in caring for diverse patient populations. As part of the AMSN Elevate Series, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Health Care Workforce, the first module is available free of charge for AMSN members. This one-hour module will challenge nurses to investigate opportunities for connection and community building in health care workplaces, increase awareness of structural and unconscious bias, build a culture of appreciate and inclusion and support advanced equity and inclusion in the workplace.
