It’s Time to Spring Forward: What’s Coming Up for AMSN
As you might remember from previous communications, AMSN has been working on a comprehensive DEI program to help build competency related to DEI principles. The program consists of six modules, an introductory module that provides background, definitions and covers topics such as bias and microaggressions, and then five different modules focusing on five traditionally marginalized groups. In these modules, we discuss how to care for patients from these groups and how to work with colleagues from these groups and build healthy practice environments. This assessment-based certificate program will assist you in building comfort and competency in providing safe, effective, and informed care to patients and work effectively as a high-performing team.
We are happy to say that the program is complete and ready for beta testing. Beta testing is the process of having members complete the educational program and the test to determine the number of NCPD hours the course will provide and to test the process, the content, and the exam. If you are interested in participating in this beta testing, please contact AMSN at amsn@amsn.org.
One of the new and exciting products I told you about was a new certification being launched by the Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board (MSNCB). MSNCB is working on a new credential for nurses providing virtual care in the inpatient acute care setting.
Last month I told you about other products and services in the works. One of the new and exciting products I told you about was a new certification being launched by the Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board (MSNCB). MSNCB is working on a new credential for nurses providing virtual care in the inpatient acute care setting. We are so excited to offer a credential to nurses working in this emerging space. AMSN is working to build education for nurses interested in or working in virtual acute care nursing, and we have built an entire tract of content for the AMSN 2023 convention in Las Vegas.
During the convention you can attend a session on virtual nursing during every block of education so you can learn more about it. Topics include technology, partnering with the bedside nurse, responsibilities of the virtual nurse, and more. The new certification will launch in late summer/early fall, so the timing with convention is perfect to bring this content to you. Even if you aren’t interested in being a virtual nurse, there will be great content for how they can support your work at the bedside. Stay tuned for more registration information in the coming weeks.
I also wanted to share that our new AMSN community, The Pulse, now sends out notifications on a weekly basis so you don’t miss any of the great conversation taking place. Be sure to check out The Pulse, post your questions, talk to other med-surg nurses, and share your knowledge and expertise. New features continue to roll out regularly, so bookmark The Pulse to ensure you don’t miss out on the great discussions and education taking place in your dedicated and member only community.
